Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chalker walked away with it. Everything went their way against the St. John Fighting Herald on Saturday as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Wildcats have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Tatum Hudak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Chalker let Morgan Strock and Riley Ashcraft run wild. Strock went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Ashcraft got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Strock has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Kren, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Chalker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. John only posted a batting average of .000.
Chalker is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for St. John, they moved to 9-5 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Chalker nor the Fighting Herald have any future games scheduled.
