AA Region III recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Central, who took down 127th ranked Columbia, 33-28. Grayson King threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns and ran for four yards in the win.
Fairfield Central extended the longest winning streak in AA Region III this week by beating Pelion, 56-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Knights' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground William Jenkins chipped in 123 yards. Austin Furman helped North Central's passing attack out by catching nine balls for 86 yards.
Anthony Spinelli was the best wideout in the league this week as North Central defeated the Capitals. Spinelli racked up four receptions for 113 yards.
Louis Clyburn's team's King and Spinelli have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. King has thrown for 1493 yards this season, while Spinelli has 35 catches for 663 yards. Keenan's Peter Easaw leads the league in rushing yards with 715.
Two of the top units in AA Region III will face off this week when the Knights take on Fairfield Central. North Central's offense has recorded 250 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Griffins have permitted only 129 on the year.
The Knights made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,012 from 12,542. The improvement came about via a 33-28 victory over Columbia last week.
