Holmes is 0-3 against Sotomayor since September of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The Huskies will look to defend their home field against the WILDCATS at 7:00 p.m. Holmes has given up an average of 32.2 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Holmes is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Warren on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Huskies came up short against the Warriors, falling 38-13. The Huskies were down 31-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Holmes got top-tier performance from Jayden Hopkins, who rushed for 182 yards and two TDs. Hopkins was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. Holmes also got help from Deonta Corley, who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sotomayor). They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 63-7 win over Marshall. With the WILDCATS ahead 35-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Holmes better keep an eye on Chauncey Moon. He was instrumental in Sotomayor's win, rushing for 146 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 112 yards and one touchdown. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Moon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameron Grady, who gained 124 total yards and three touchdowns.
The victory made it two in a row for Sotomayor and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. As for Holmes, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Holmes has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sotomayor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 233.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Holmes was taken down by Sotomayor 44-15 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Huskies were down 28-7.
