Lisa Arkelian made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Alexandra Ramos was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Addie Jones was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Willits kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Bragg only managed eight.
Meanwhile, Cloverdale fell victim to Fortuna and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 7-0 to the Huskies. That makes it the first time this season the Eagles have let down their home crowd.
Willits' record now sits at 5-2. As for Cloverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willits hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Cloverdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Willits might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Cloverdale in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
