4A Region III District 19 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Humble was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in 4A Region III District 19. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats triumphed over Porter 24-18.
Summer Creek moved up to 63 from 151 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to make the jump by beating Crosby 49-21.
The Cougars' dynamic duo of Aston Walter and Justin Walter proved tough for Summer Creek to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Walter threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns and Walter had 193 yards receiving. Benjamin Meche helped Crosby's passing attack out by catching four balls for 56 yards.
Chris Hardin was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 134 yards on seven carries as Humble fell to Brian Ford's team. Teammate Jeremiah Alison added to the ground attack by rushing for 116 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Devlin Isadore of the Spartans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 989. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Jeff Riodan's team's Austin Walters has rushed for 791 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Walter. The Crosby star has 19 catches for 317 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Dayton takes on Kingwood Park. The Broncos are in second place, while the Panthers are in third place.
Dayton extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating King, 24-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
