Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Colusa). Everything went their way against the Willows Honkers on Friday as they made off with a 19-3 win. The victory was nothing new for the RedHawks as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Braelyn Santana made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Colusa got a massive performance out of Caeden Agnew, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Agnew a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elli Santana, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Colusa's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Willows, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colusa will square off against Corning at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Willows, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Nicolaus at 4:00 p.m. on May 12.
