Chaparral has gone 9-1 against Castle View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Chaparral Wolverines are taking a road trip to square off against the Castle View Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Chaparral's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
Last Friday, Chaparral didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Heritage, but they still walked away with a 67-61 victory. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Eagles are ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chaparral got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Williams out in front who posted 14 points along with five assists and five steals. That's the most steals Williams has posted since back in January of 2024. Luke Williams was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Castle View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-54 victory over Ponderosa on Friday.
Castle View found their leader in sophomore Bubba Wyatt, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mckean, who scored 11 points and six steals.
Chaparral's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points over those games. As for Castle View, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chaparral has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Castle View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Chaparral didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Castle View in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 68-62 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Castle View's Vitorio Dante, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be easier for Chaparral to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
