The Lyons Lions will square off against the Jefferson Jeff Saint at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Lyons' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Jefferson has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Lyons will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against SkyView Academy on Thursday. The Lions put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jake LaCrosse made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. He has become a key player for Lyons: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-6 otherwise. LaCrosse was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Calvin Russell was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Henry Lynch, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Jefferson couldn't beat Englewood on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Jeff Saint came up short against the Pirates, falling 25-6.
Jefferson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Valduz, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those hits marked the first that Valduz has got this season.
Lyons' victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lyons has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lyons got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Jefferson by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jeff Saint turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
