For the second straight game, Edgar will face off against Assumption. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Royals at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Edgar is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Edgar barely beat Assumption the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Royals on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Sawyer Weiland made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Weiland was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Stahnke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ashur Brodhagen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Edgar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Edgar's record now sits at 3-5. As for Assumption, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edgar hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Assumption struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
