Basketball Game Preview: Millers Creek Christian Lions vs. Statesville Christian Lions

Millers Creek Christian hasn't had much luck against Statesville Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Millers Creek Christian Lions will welcome the Statesville Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. Millers Creek Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Millers Creek Christian is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Varsity Opponent: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Millers Creek Christian blew Varsity Opponent out of the water with a 52-23 final score. The matchup marked the Lions' most dominant victory of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millers Creek Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Ward, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 22 points. That's the most points Ward has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Gettler, who posted seven points in addition to nine assists and five boards.

Millers Creek Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed Statesville Christian with a 56-35 loss courtesy of Triad Baptist Christian Academy on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Titans are ranked 158th).

This is the second loss in a row for Statesville Christian and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Millers Creek Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
