The Reading Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Bethel-Tate Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Reading has four straight wins, Bethel-Tate has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Reading is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Deer Park on Monday as they made off with a 28-0 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Blue Devils with their most commanding win of the season.
Jason Lunsford made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Lunsford was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other pitching news, Cole Marksberry looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Connor Davis was incredible, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. He has become a key player for Reading: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Charlie Hess, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Reading hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deer Park struck out ten times.
Bethel-Tate couldn't beat Felicity-Franklin on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Tigers fell 11-7 to the Cardinals. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cardinals since on Monday.
Landen Brumfield was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Simon Houser, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Bethel-Tate's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Reading, their record now sits at 5-3.
Reading was able to grind out a solid win over Bethel-Tate when the teams last played last Saturday, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
