Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jasper). They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Evansville Central Bears on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Brianna Barrix made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jasper got a massive performance out of Olivia Young, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Young has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Laney Werner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Jasper lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
