The Mohave Thunderbirds will head out to square off against the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mohave has four straight wins, La Joya Community has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mohave is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Lee Williams: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Thunderbirds blew the Volunteers out of the water with a 53-2 final score. The Thunderbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 26 points or more this season.

Joe Yoney had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 129 yards and two scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games he's played. Mohave's leading receiver Nathaniel Villarreal was Yoney's top target yet again, picking up 85 receiving yards and three TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mohave was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Mohave's defense stepped up as well, laying out Landen Douwenga three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Anthony Moses, Adrian Loya, and Noah Anaya, who each picked up one sack apiece. Pedro Marentes got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, La Joya Community came up short against Agua Fria on Friday, falling 34-14.
Although La Joya Community took the loss, they still got scores from Ashton Audis and Jayden Quick.
Mohave's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for La Joya Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Mohave has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 176.6 rushing yards per game.
