It was a good run, but the Abilene Christian Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 65-52 to Cornerstone Christian. Abilene Christian lost against Cornerstone Christian in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-46 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Abilene Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryinn Waggoner. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds. Waggoner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Armstrong, who scored 10 points.
Abilene Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Cornerstone Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abilene Christian will take on Cross Plains at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Water Valley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Water Valley and Cornerstone Christian are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
