South Plainfield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the East Brunswick Bears on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row dating back to last season.
South Plainfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaydon Jones and Dominic Massaro. Another thorn in East Brunswick's side was Aiden Nobicicella,, who picked up two sacks and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plainfield will venture away from home to face off against Delaware Valley at 6:00 p.m. on September 5. As for East Brunswick, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Hamilton at 2:00 p.m. on September 6.
