The Crockett Bulldogs lost against the Westwood Panthers back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Crockett suffered a rough 48-22 defeat at the hands of Westwood. While losing is never fun, Crockett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 871st, while Westwood is ranked 388th).
Westwood found their leader in underclassman Kavian Bryant, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Lamarion Goodwyn was another key contributor, rushing for 54 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Crockett and nudges their season record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Woodville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.8% over those games). As for Westwood, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Crockett will head out on the road to face off against Diboll at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Westwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
