The Holy Trinity Tigers will head out to face off against the Latin Romans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
On Wednesday, Holy Trinity sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Fasman Yeshiva.
Holy Trinity's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Noe Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Latin). They were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over Chicago University on Wednesday. Considering the Romans have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Latin got a massive performance out of Drew Lufrano, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Lufrano has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of John Rose, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Latin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Holy Trinity's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Latin, their record now sits at 11-2.
Holy Trinity might still be hurting after the 16-4 defeat they got from Latin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
