The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will face off against the McClatchy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Davis Sr. sitting on four straight victories and McClatchy on seven.
Davis Sr. had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let Lincoln onto the board and left with a 2-0 win on Friday. Given Davis Sr.'s advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Lincoln is ranked 536th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Davis Sr. was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Oliver Fleet and
Zachary Schroeder, who scored both of Davis Sr.'s goals. The pair have combined for a total of eight so far this season.
Meanwhile, McClatchy had just enough and edged Gregori out 4-3 on Friday. That's two games straight that McClatchy has won by exactly one goal.
Davis Sr. has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3-2 record this season. As for McClatchy, they pushed their record up to 19-4-5 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home.
