The Woods Cross Wildcats will head out to challenge the West Field Longhorns at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Woods Cross put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They put the hurt on Roy with a sharp 14-2 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Beckham Stanger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kason Lythgoe, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Beau Blackwell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Woods Cross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, West Field got the win against Bear River on Friday by a conclusive 12-1.
Caymen Kap tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Field is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, West Field got a big performance out of Kanyon Pratt, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Pratt has become a key player for the Longhorns: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-7 otherwise. Marshal Moon also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Woods Cross' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for West Field, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
