In other batting news, Mason Bastien was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.
Murphysboro's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Carbondale, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.
