The Ladysmith Lumberjacks will head out on the road to face off against the Cameron Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ladysmith will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Ladysmith is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 16-6 to Ashland on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Lumberjacks have lost by exactly ten runs.
Lizzy O was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. That run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Veronica P, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Cameron got the win against Barron on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-7. Considering the Comets have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brylee Viltz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cameron let Rayna Schroeder and Addy Ebner run wild. Schroeder got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Ebner got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI. Those five RBI gave Ebner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubree Kreier, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Cameron's record is now 5-2. As for Ladysmith, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ladysmith hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Cameron struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ladysmith might still be hurting after the 20-10 loss they got from Cameron in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Lumberjacks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
