The Gulf Coast Sharks waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Barron Collier with a 20-16 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gulf Coast also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading Gulf Coast to victory were Alex Mcdonough and Lilly Fultz. Mcdonough scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Fultz scored ten points along with three steals. Mcdonough is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Sophia Pasquarello was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
Gulf Coast pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Barron Collier, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulf Coast will stay at home for another game and welcome Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Fort Myers is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Barron Collier, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Neumann at 7:00 p.m. Neumann presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barron Collier in Florida (Neumann is ranked 33rd, while Barron Collier is ranked 172nd).
