The Christian Academy Warriors's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Providence Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Christian Academy has not done well against Paoli recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Christian Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 victory over Paoli. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Renfro, who scored 18 points along with five assists. Josh Chancey was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, Providence can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rock Creek Academy 54-27 at home. Given Providence's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Rock Creek Academy is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Providence when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 51-32. Will Christian Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
