Bishop O'Connell was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Bishop O'Connell 41-10. The Knights came in at 8 in the state poll after placing at number 116 last week.
DeMatha extended the longest winning streak in Washington Catholic this week by beating Bishop O'Connell, 41-10. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Stags.
DeMatha's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Lovett threw for 237 and three touchdowns and Chris Jones had 88 yards receiving. On the ground Mark Allen chipped in 124 yards. Cam Phillips helped DeMatha's passing attack out by catching six balls for 83 yards.
Our Lady of Good Counsel's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brendan Marshall has thrown for 738 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Kendall Fuller has 22 catches for 390 yards. Dorian O'Daniel leads the league in rushing with 591 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Gonzaga and Archbishop Carroll. The Eagles comes into the matchup ranked third in the state, while the Lions ranks 13th.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Our Lady of Good Counsel and Elijah Brooks's team meet this week. The Falcons features well-regarded senior Fuller while the Stags has Terrance Davis, a sought after freshman.
There should be lots of points scored when Our Lady of Good Counsel and DeMatha face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Bob Milloy's team comes in having scored 150 this season, while the Stags have scored 197.
Del Smith's team moved up to 8 from 116 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Washington Catholic. A 41-10 win over the Knights helped the Knights improve their standing.
