Baseball Recap: Riverside Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Riverside had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They walked away with a 14-10 victory over the Leflore County Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 on March 5th.

Cameron Massey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with six RBI.

In other batting news, Jaylon Davis was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Chandler Taylor also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Riverside's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Leflore County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Riverside will take on rival West Bolivar at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Leflore County is set to square off against their familiar foe South Delta at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
