Hackleburg extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 8 this week by beating Vina, 47-19. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Phillips led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on Waterloo.
Hackleburg's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dylan Gallaway threw for 76 yards and Corey Yokom had 41 yards receiving. On the ground Kristian Jones chipped in 98 yards. Jones helped Hackleburg's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
Phillips' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Rodney Camp has thrown for 1306 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Tyler Crumpton has 32 catches for 720 yards. Camp also leads the league in rushing with 694 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Region 8 this week will be when ROD HUDSON's team takes on the Bears. At the moment, the Panthers are in first, while Phillips is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Hackleburg and Gary Mccarley's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Panthers comes in having scored 237 this season, while the Bears have scored 222. Hackleburg scored 47 points last week as it beat the Red Devils.
Phillips made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,871 from 12,345. The improvement was the result of 52-22 victory over the Cougars last week.
