The Smithtown Christian Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 88-66 margin over Shelter Island. Smithtown Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smithtown Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nehemiah Yuen, who scored 30 points. The game was Yuen's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah McCarter, who scored 25 points.
Shelter Island's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Weslek, who scored 36 points, and Harrison Weslek who scored 26 points. Weslek scored a full 39.4% of Shelter Island's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The win makes it two in a row for Smithtown Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Shelter Island, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithtown Christian is on the road again on December 30th and play against Port Jefferson at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th. Shelter Island will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenport at 6:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
