The Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers will take on the McMichael Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bartlett Yancey is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Bartlett Yancey is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs last Thursday, they were much more limited against Southeast Alamance on Wednesday. They came up short against the Stallions, falling 17-2.
Savana Gibbs made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McMichael, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Bethany Community by a score of 7-4 on Thursday. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Lindsay Redmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Samantha Hopson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Olivia Wilson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
McMichael kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
McMichael's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bartlett Yancey, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Bartlett Yancey's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Buccaneers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for McMichael, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bartlett Yancey continue to outrun the ball?
