The Weeki Wachee Hornets entered their tilt with the Hernando Leopards with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Weeki Wachee blew past Hernando 54-25 at home. Given Weeki Wachee's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Hernando is ranked 313th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Weeki Wachee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rayana Coleman, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Coleman continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Atwater, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Hernando still got an impressive performance from Kayla Holloman, who scored 19 points. Holloman scored a full 76% of Hernando's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Weeki Wachee's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Hernando, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will challenge Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Hernando will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Crystal River at 8:00 p.m. on December 12th. Crystal River will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
