The Twin Lakes Indians will square off against the Seeger Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Twin Lakes is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
While Twin Lakes' win against Elwood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Panthers 5-4 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by just one run.
Trae Haworth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Twin Lakes secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Aidan Holle, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Seeger put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Attica. The Patriots came out on top against the Red Ramblers by a score of 11-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Xavier Lang made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Seeger: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 9-10 otherwise. Lang was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Seeger let Ryder Hannon and Peyton Grimmett run wild. Hannon went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Grimmett went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Grimmett a new career-high. Macyn Hughes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Seeger always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Attica only posted an OBP of .222.
Seeger has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Twin Lakes, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Seeger's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Twin Lakes hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Seeger, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Twin Lakes' hitters?
Twin Lakes skirted past Seeger 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
