The Bunnell Bulldogs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the New Milford Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Bunnell is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Green Wave in Connecticut (the Bulldogs are ranked 18th, while the Green Wave are ranked 149th).
Last Tuesday, Bunnell suffered a tough 79-53 defeat at the hands of the Lancers. Bunnell has struggled against the Lancers recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, New Milford scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Abbott RVT 77-54. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory New Milford has managed all season.
It was another big night for Armani Checo, who shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten assists. He also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Esposito, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Bunnell's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for New Milford, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-10.
Everything went Bunnell's way against the Green Wave in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the Bulldogs made off with a 63-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bunnell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
