The Upton Bobcats and the Niobrara County Tigers will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Upton is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road.
Last Saturday, Upton strolled past Kaycee with points to spare, taking the game 44-25. Given Upton's advantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Kaycee is ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Niobrara County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southeast. Niobrara County has not had much luck with Southeast recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Niobrara County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rachel Krein, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Gracie Zumbrunnen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Upton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Niobrara County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
