The Niwot Cougars lost against the Mountain View Mountain Lions back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Niwot received a tough blow as they fell 59-44 to Mountain View. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Niwot in their matchups with Mountain View: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sebastian Stenz, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stenz has scored all season. Jackson Carano was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Tyson Mares-Benz was on fire for Mountain View: he scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Mares-Benz scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Carsen Kissinger, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Niwot's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Niwot will be playing in front of their home fans against Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Roosevelt is ranked 269th, while Niwot is ranked 247th). As for Mountain View, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Frederick at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Frederick is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.2 points per game.
