The Bishop Kenny Crusaders will venture away from home to face off against the Chiles Timberwolves at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bishop Kenny has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Chiles will arrive with seven straight wins.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Bishop Kenny nor Bolles made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Crusaders fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1.
Bishop Kenny saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Timmy Pellicer, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Chiles got the win against Menendez on Friday by a conclusive 9-2.
Jake Gardner looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, JR Thompson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Saunder Dinkelman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bishop Kenny now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Chiles, their record is now 8-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bishop Kenny has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chiles struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bishop Kenny suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Chiles in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
