After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Irondequoit, the Gates Chili Spartans were happy to have found some success on Monday. They walked away with a 59-46 victory over Vertus. That's another feather in the cap for Gates Chili, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gates Chili to victory, but perhaps none more so than Derrik Davis, who scored 17 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Davis scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Joey Vigerzi, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Gates Chili's win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-12. As for Vertus, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gates Chili will take on the Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Penfield will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for Vertus, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Kings at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th.
