AAA District 16 recap October 1, 2013
Memphis Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 78 from 115 this week, the biggest jump in AAA District 16. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of besting Manassas 40-12.
Whitehaven was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Ridgeway. The Tigers came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
6-foot-2 quarterback Cedrick Wilson Jr. of White Station is the league leader in passing yards this season with 363. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Terreyo Nailor. The Memphis East star has 6 catches for 92 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Memphis East takes on Melrose. The Mustangs are in third place, while the Golden Wildcats are in second place.
Whitehaven added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Roadrunners, 47-40. The victory was the sixth in a row for Rodney Saulsberry's team.
