Lake Placid took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Okeechobee with a sharp 13-7 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their two-run performance the match before.
Kaylee Grigsby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jillian Garduno, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayla Oliveros, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Lake Placid hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Clewiston lost 18-3 to Moore Haven on March 13th. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Terriers since March 20, 2018.
Clewiston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Salia Brathwaite, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was Brathwaite's first of the season.
Lake Placid's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Clewiston, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.
Clewiston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Placid has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Clewiston, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Lake Placid's sizable advantage in that area, Clewiston will need to find a way to close that gap.
