Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Lehi's Winning Streak

After a string of four wins, Lehi's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Provo Bulldogs. While the Pioneers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 23-19 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Lehi lost, don't look at Brynlee Cook. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelcee Rasmussen, who put up five points and five assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Provo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Naomi Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sutton Villa, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks.

Lehi's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Provo, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lehi will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Springville at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Provo, they will look to defend their home court on December 27th against Tooele at 7:00 p.m. Provo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.
