The Symmes Valley Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Wheelersburg Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Symmes Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Wheelersburg is ranked 155th).
Last Friday, Symmes Valley came up short against Notre Dame and fell 48-41. Symmes Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Symmes Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aydan Taylor, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. Taylor continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Cade, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Symmes Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even though Eastern scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, Wheelersburg still came out on top. Everything went Wheelersburg's way against Eastern as Wheelersburg made off with a 83-63 victory. Wheelersburg's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Symmes Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Wheelersburg, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
