There's no place like home for the Charleston Catholic Irish, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 45-30 victory over Clay County on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Charleston Catholic also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Leading Charleston Catholic to victory were Layla Carter and Mary Rushworth. Carter scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Rushworth scored 20 points along with two steals. Rushworth has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Rahin, who scored six points.
Charleston Catholic pushed their record up to 9-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Clay County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
Charleston Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on February 2nd. One thing working in Nitro's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
