Westminster Christian is a perfect 10-0 against Palmer Trinity since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors will challenge the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Westminster Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Wednesday, Westminster Christian beat Hialeah Educational Academy 5-1.
Aaron Hernandez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Ray Lopez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. Eric Eikenberg also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Palmer Trinity entered their tilt with Mater Bay Academy on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Rays. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Luis Acosta looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joshua Martinez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Rodriguez, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Palmer Trinity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Palmer Trinity pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Westminster Christian, their record is now 14-9-1.
Westminster Christian took their victory against Palmer Trinity in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
