Chico hasn't had much luck against Pleasant Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will take on the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chico comes in on seven and Pleasant Valley on 11.
On Friday, Chico beat Red Bluff 6-2.
The team relied heavily on Addi Hosier, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Murphy, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley made easy work of Shasta on Friday and carried off a 9-1 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Alissa Snipes was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Lily Thurman was incredible, firing off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Carisma Ta'Amai was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Pleasant Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shasta struck out 14 times.
Pleasant Valley pushed their record up to 16-5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Chico, their record now sits at 15-9.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chico hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Pleasant Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chico came up short against Pleasant Valley in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 14-11. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
