Maconaquah has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Northfield Norsemen at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Maconaquah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
Maconaquah struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Saturday (Rochester was 26% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Maconaquah was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to Rochester.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Miranda Stoll, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Carson, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, Northfield had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Peru by a score of 49-39 on Monday.
Northfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eden Hoover out in front who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elli Baker, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Maconaquah's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Northfield, they pushed their record up to 1-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Maconaquah have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4 threes per game. It's a different story for Northfield, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 per game. Given Maconaquah's sizeable advantage in that area, Northfield will need to find a way to close that gap.
Maconaquah came up short against Northfield in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 54-44. Can Maconaquah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
