Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lyons walked away with it. They took their game at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 62-22 victory over Dove Creek. Fans of Lyons have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Lyons' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miles Dumbauld led the charge by rushing for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes. Dumbauld was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. Malik Sigg-Brown was another major influence, as he rushed for 158 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, Mancos faced Sedgwick County in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mancos didn't even let Sedgwick County onto the board and left with a 38-0 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for Mancos, who have now won nine matches by 30 points or more so far this season.
Kail Wayman was his usual excellent self, rushing for 133 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 115 yards and three touchdowns on only six passes. Another player making a difference was Chris Medina, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Things could have been worse for Lyons, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 32-18 loss to Mancos when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Lyons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
