The Lyman Greyhounds won the last time they faced the Freedom Patriots, and things went their way on Friday too. Lyman enjoyed a cozy 70-52 victory over Freedom. Given Lyman's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Freedom is ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lyman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Mattingly led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was Mattingly's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Coleman Miller, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Lyman now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyman will square off against Lake Mary at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Freedom, they will head out on the road to face off against Celebration at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
