The Highland Park Giants will head out on the road to face off against the Glenbrook North Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland Park will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Even though Highland Park has not done well against Vernon Hills recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Highland Park managed a 39-35 win over Vernon Hills.
Highland Park's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mckenzie Reitmayer led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Reitmayer has scored at least 25% of Highland Park's points. Kourtnie Halperin was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Glenbrook North's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They secured a 43-38 W over Mundelein.
Their wins bumped Highland Park to 5-3 and Vernon Hills to 3-6.
Highland Park suffered a grim 53-32 defeat to Glenbrook North in their previous matchup back in January. Can Highland Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
