Basketball Game Preview: Fallston Cougars vs. Edgewood Rams

Fallston is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Edgewood is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fallston Cougars will welcome the Edgewood Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Fallston beats Edgewood with 39 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Fallston walked away with a 39-31 victory over Rising Sun on Tuesday.

It was another big night for Natalie Wirth, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 20 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season. Sarah Gnagey was another key player, putting up seven points and seven rebounds.

Fallston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 38 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Edgewood didn't have too much trouble with Havre de Grace on Tuesday as they won 58-39. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Warriors are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fallston is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Edgewood, their win bumped their record up to 12-3-1.

Things could have been worse for Fallston, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-56 loss to Edgewood when the teams last played back in December of 2024.
