Canutillo is 8-2 against El Paso since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Canutillo Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the El Paso Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Canutillo is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
Canutillo posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 74-34 win over Jefferson. Given Canutillo's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Jefferson is ranked 1480th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
El Paso suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Chapin at home and fell 59-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points El Paso has scored all season.
Canutillo is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for El Paso, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
Canutillo and El Paso were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but Canutillo came up empty-handed after a 46-45 defeat. Can Canutillo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
