The last time they met ? Mannford were the 38-12 winner over Cleveland. This time around? They had no such luck. Mannford ended up on the wrong side of a painful 12-45 walloping at Cleveland's hands. Mannford were down by 6-35 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Junior Nathan Winters and junior Donald Houston were two go-getters for Mannford despite the defeat. The former passed for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns, while the latter caught passes for 88 yards and picked up 38 yards on the ground. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Cj Porter, who racked up 14 tackles.
Sophomore Ben Ward, who picked up 105 yards on the ground and threw 4 TDs, was a major factor in Cleveland's success.
The loss dropped Mannford's record to 0-2. The win bumped Cleveland's record up to 3-0.
Mannford will look to defend their home turf next week against Bristow at 7:00 PM. Cleveland will have some time to rest before their next matchup, which is against Oologah in two weeks at 7:00 PM. Oologah will need to watch out since Oologah have now posted big point totals in their last 3 contests.
