The team relied heavily on Maeve Carlton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Patterson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Plainfield Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are undefeated (3-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Oswego and Naperville North, and Oswego kept the tradition alive. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Huskies on Tuesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Aubriella Garza was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Garza was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kiyah Chavez was incredible, firing off three home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Adalynn Fugitt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and four runs.
Oswego pushed their record up to 19-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Plainfield Central, the victory got them back to even at 9-9-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Plainfield Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Oswego struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plainfield Central might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Oswego when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
